Trip to the Snow

On January 31 we took the kids to the snow. We found a spot just off the freeway where there was fresh snow and no other people. The boys had a blast! Lola hated it at first, but we brought our sand toys and she enjoyed shoveling snow into a bucket. It was a fun little outing.

Jeff's Birthday!

Jeff turned 30 on January 28th. Yikes! He's old! I figured what better day to visit Jeff at work with the kids and embarrass him? Happy birthday Daddy! :)

I haven't done much with our blog in a while ... so here's me getting caught up. Back to January 5th, when my brother Adam and I celebrated our birthday. He's 26 now and I'm, *gulp*, 29! Happy birthay to us!

Veritas

Our church's website is up, though not fully functioning yet. But the "what we believe" heading is complete and its really, really good. I recommend you checking the site out and reading at least that. And check back, because I know it'll be completed soon, with videos of Pastor Meyers' sermons.

Woo Hoo!

I get excited about weird things lately. Here's one of the latest things that I am enthused about. I have been enjoying watching/listening to sermons by Mark Driscoll, a pastor of a church in Seattle called Mars Hill. Our church, Veritas, is being started through Mars Hill's Acts 29 church planting network. Pastor Driscoll has awesome sermons and I've been really learning a lot by listening to him. A few weeks ago, the Mars Hill website announced that in 2009 they were going to be doing a series on 1&2 Peter for about half the year, starting on January 11th. I love 1&2 Peter, so I was super excited that he was going to be doing this and couldn't wait to see the first installment. I watched it today and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend you watch this sermon and if you like it, you go to http://www.marshillchurch.org/ and check out prior sermons (if you do, write me and I can suggest some great ones to get started with).

Christmas Day

Christmas Day was a busy one for us and definitely fun, but it is also a time when we really see how important it was for Jesus to come to save the world from sin. I am referring to our innate selfishness we have from the moment we are born. It is never more obvious than on a day when people are showering our children with gifts. Amid the "thank yous" there were a lot of "what's next?" Ugh! Its just a reminder that all of us default to selfish if we don't have our hearts focused on Christ and our trust in Him.

We started off the morning at home where we opened our stockings and our presents to eachother. Lincoln even had presents for us that he had made in school.

Then it was off to Peepaw and Manamana (Grandparents Bouterie)'s house for breakfast.

After our time at the Bouterie's, it was off to the Phelps' home to visit with Grandma Cheryl, Great Grandparents' Fuller, Aunt Karen, Aunts Em and Grace, and of course the Phelps Family.

After the Phelps' home, we were back to Great Grandparents Harris' home for Christmas dinner. The kids actually ate some of it! This is quite the accomplishment since the Nichols children NEVER eat anywhere but home ... unless super hungry. Don't know why, guess everywhere else is just too much fun to worry about food.

We had a wonderful Christmas Day and enjoyed spending time with all of the family we were so blessed to be able to share our day with. Thank you to everyone who opened their homes. We love you!
